St. Anthony Park Block Nurse Program Exercise Classes Can Be Life-Changing
Life changed for 90 year old Janet when she moved to an apartment two years ago.
She felt she was not getting enough exercise doing laundry, using the stairs instead of the elevator and occasionally riding an exercise bike on her deck. Because this was a source of frustration for her, her daughter looked to the community to see what else might be available. She discovered the exercise classes offered by the St. Anthony Park Block Nurse Program. Janet was very interested in participating and started going once a week and now goes two or three times a week. Janet was so enthusiastic that her daughter started leading a class in her mother’s building so Janet can be sure to get three classes in every week.
The Block Nurse Exercise Program has helped Janet in three ways. First of all it provides her with quality social interaction. The people in the class are positive and fun and the leader creates an atmosphere of community and belonging. Second, Janet feels much stronger and has more energy since she has been attending the classes. Third, the class gives Janet something enjoyable to look forward to each week.
Janet and her family feel that the Block Nurse Program exercise classes are a blessing for her and for them. They know that other seniors would also benefit from the classes and have their quality of life improved.
